During my first Dossier Review, I have received feedback from my two academic advisors, Dr. Anne Ottenbriet-Leftwich, and Dr. Thomas Brush. During this process, both advisors read over the first draft of my dossier, and provided feedback to focus and strengthen the dossier. Below is their feedback, as well as how I have addressed each item.
Identify unifying theme related to research, teaching, and service
- Action Taken: I have identified the main themes throughout my research as focusing on (1) Student-Centered Learning, and (2) Mobile Technology. This focusing has led to a merging of the two areas into my main research focus.
Focus on the destination - Where is this leading?
- Action Taken: Additional clarification has been added to my Candidate Statement, with a focus on Professional Goals (Desired job post-graduation), research interest, and integration of research goals with professional goals.
Take a lead role in a research project
Publish a completed, first-authored study: In Progress
Identify a doctoral minor which supports the research topic
- Action Taken: Based on my interest in student-centered learning and mobile devices, I have chosen Social Informatics as my doctoral minor, to explore how the use of the technology in these environments can effect student interaction with the content, the technology, and with each other.
